Chhath Puja is an ancient Hindu festival, dedicated to Lord Sun and Chhathi Maiya (known to be the sister of Lord Sun). Chhath Puja is unique to states of Bihar, Jharkhand and Eastern Uttar Pradesh.
People in Dighi have been going to the nearest river to worship God Sun on occasion of Chhath Puja for decades. But the road to this river front (Chhath Ghat) was very uneven and filled with stones and pits. It was difficult even to walk on the road bare-footed. Many devotees did even DANDWAT PUJA on the same road facing lot of hardship.
Lakshya Peace Foundation team undertook the work of repairing this road to Chhath Ghat. Mr Ankit Kumar, Mr Bhupesh Jha, Mr Rajendra Pd Baranwal, Dr Ravi Shankar, Mr Ravi Prakash, Mr Pawan Kumar, Mr Sumit Kumar ‘Sanu’, Mr Anand Kumar, Mr Ashish Kumar worked as a team. First, a survey was done by Mr Ankit Kumar and Mr Bhupesh Jha checking the road condition and length of the road to be repaired. Then, an estimate of the required manpower and materials was made. 150 men-hours of labour, 4 trucks of soil and beautiful RANGOLI design made by our sisters Miss Akanksha Kumari, Miss Shalini Kumari and Miss Sanvi Kumari did a complete makeover of the road to Chhath Ghat. We were happy to see the comfort of the devotees while they were walking on the new road to reach Chhath Ghath.
